Jim Beattie

Founder and Principal Consultant

Jim Beattie is the Founder and Principal Consultant for Vox Potentia Consulting, LLC where for the last 9 years he has led clients through strategic realignment to embrace new technologies and achieve strategic business goals. He brings more than 40 years of technology leadership experience in the insurance, transportation and publishing industries and has helped clients deploy innovative online solutions via complex technology platforms all while cutting costs and growing revenue. Beattie, a certified project management professional, is an advocate for organizational tools such as Predictive Index® and is an expert in developing, launching and supporting intricate product lines in diverse industries while maintaining unwavering commitment to methodology and organizational development.

Prior to joining VOX, Beattie served a decade as the executive vice president and chief technology officer of CCC Information Services, the industry leader in automotive claims and repair services handling seventy five percent of all automotive collision claims in the U.S. through a network of more than 350 insurance companies and 20,000 repair providers. During his tenure, organic annual revenue grew from $160 million to $350 million. In his time at CCC Information Services, Beattie owned platform and application development and delivery of a sophisticated and integrated suite of applications and services to clients as well as deployment and support of all internal systems resulting in improved information flow, precision and oversight. He led a combined staff of more than 400 and a budget in excess of $75 million.

Before CCC, Beattie served as CTO and senior vice president of Britannica.com, the global leader of educational publishing products and a pioneer in digital publishing. At Britannica, he provided oversight for the global deployment of software and strategic systems to launch the Internet Knowledge Portal and pioneered search technology based on high precision taxonomic text and conceptual language, integrating multiple databases and products into a cohesive infrastructure. Prior to Britannica, Beattie served as the vice president of engineering and new media services at a startup, Infonautics Corporation, a forerunner in providing personalized information agents and websites including Electric Library, Encyclopedia.com and NewsDirectory.com to improve access and quality of digital literacy.

Earlier in his career, Beattie served in an influential technology leadership role at Prodigy, where he revolutionized information access paradigms by delivering sports, weather and business information to consumers. He has also held technology leadership roles at Pitney Bowes, Savin Corporation and IBM. Most recently, he served in consulting roles for various businesses with his own firm.

Beattie holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Iona College and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute. He enjoys golf and spending time with his wife and two grandchildren.
